One Piece is more than 65% done. At least that’s what Eiichiro Oda and his editors told us last year. Based on that, we have about 10 more years of One Piece left, and then the story will be over. At this point, Luffy and his crew have finally entered the New World and the real challenge is only beginning now.
Whole Cake Island is the first of many big challenges to come. Although not as big as Wano. When Luffy first came to Whole Cake Island, fans thought that it was time Big Mom went down, and that’s what majority of them were expecting. Even now, there are some fans who expect Big Mom to fall at Whole Cake Island, which is not going to happen. Luffy clashed with Big Mom once before, and he wasn’t able to do anything to her.
Even though Luffy trained for 2 years, he is not strong enough to take on the likes of the Yonko. Doflamingo is the only big victory Luffy managed with his current level. Charlotte Cracker was taken down thanks to Nami’s help, otherwise Luffy would’ve lost. It’s that simple. Luffy is currently fighting Katakuri, and he is not strong enough to take him down without an ass pull.
That’s what I believe. But, even if Luffy takes down Katakuri, he is NOWHERE near the level of a Yonko. That’s just not happening. Luffy cannot beat a Yonko, even if he’s helped by others like Law, Kid, Zoro, Sanji etc. So, what needs to happen? I think a second Timeskip is necessary here. What was the purpose of the first time skip? It was to teach Luffy the basics of Haki.
Now, Luffy knows that. But, he just found out that Haki has levels, and that awakening is something too! So, a second Timeskip where Luffy learns all these things is needed really. I think we cannot continue without that, because Luffy will just be destroyed by Kaido as he is now, and this is where Oda’s recent interview comes in. Oda said that Wano will start in about 1-2 years. We know Whole Cake Island is at its end.
Another option for luffy to learn the awakening of devil fruit is through Dr. Vegapunk. Vegapunk is the expert on Devil Fruit and maybe he will teach luffy secret of Gomu Gomu no Mi. But thats just my assumptions.
So even though a lot of stories are to be wrapped up, it’ll take about 15 chapters max. The Reverie will take about 10-20 chapters in my opinion, which makes a total of 25-35 chapters. This is basically 1 year worth of One Piece content. My question is, what is going to happen in the next one year? And the answer is simple guys. Training. Luffy and everyone else will train. We will have a short timeskip, and that’s when they’ll learn all about awakening and Haki’s Advanced levels. But, that’s just my opinion.
