The Strawhat Pirates is a group that hails from East Blue, and is led by Monkey D. Luffy, also known as Strawhat Luffy. Luffy is one of the most powerful pirates in New World, and definitely one who has proved his worth. He has taken down some extremely strong people like Doflamingo, Charlotte Cracker, and is on course to take down the First Mate of the Big Mom Pirates, Charlotte Katakuri.
Along with Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, and Sanji Vinsmoke are the other two strongest fighters of the Strawhat crew, and this was pointed out in the series a lot of times. Mostly, people just refer to them as the Monster Trio. These three got even stronger after the Timeskip, as they trained for two years straight, and developed the power known as Haki.
Haki is simply an ability to manifest one’s willpower in the world of One Piece. Everyone has it, but few can use it. Haki is generally classified into two types, which is Kenbunshoku no Haki, and Busoshoku Haki. Kenbunshoku Haki allows a person to perceive attacks before they actually land, and acts like mind’s eye in a way.
Busoshoku Haki allows a person to manifest their soul as an armor, which can be used both offensively and defensively as well.
There is also a third rare type of Haki called Haoshoku Haki. This type of Haki is very rare, and can be found only in one in a million people in the world of One Piece. Haoshoku Haki allows a person to overpower the will of the weaker people, and dominate them for a brief moment of time. It simply knocks the weak people unconscious.
In the Strawhats, the Monster Trio specialize in Haki. In an SBS, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece was asked about the Haki users in the Strawhat Pirates, and at that time, there were but three. You would’ve guessed that they were from the Monster Trio. According to Oda, each of the Monster Trio specializes in one type of Haki, which they’ve trained the most in.
Monkey D Luffy specializes in the usage of Haoshoku Haki. This Haki will be his biggest weapon in the future of One Piece. Sanji Vinsmoke specializes in the usage of Kenbunshoku Haki, which he learned at Momoiro Island during the Timeskip. He is the best Kenbunshoku Haki user in the Strawhats and will master it in the future. Roronoa Zoro is a specialist of Busoshoku Haki, which he learned from Dracule Mihawk during the Timeskip. He will be a Busoshoku Haki master in the future. Right now, they may not be Haki masters, but they’ll definitely master these types by the end of the series.
