Hey everyone! Today I’ll be talking about One Piece. More specifically, I want to talk about Luffy vs Katakuri, and how we might just have seen a completely new power in this fight. I may head into spoiler territory, so heads up to everyone. If you don’t mind the spoilers, you can continue reading the post.
Luffy vs Katakuri has been going on for quite some time, and we’ve got glimpses of how terrifying the first mate of a Yonko is. Luffy has literally been dominated in the battle. The only time he was ever able to do something was when Katakuri lost his concentration, and Luffy managed to go Gear 4th to land some hits on him. Even then, it is of no use. This was expected of someone like Charlotte Katakuri really.
The guy has never lost a single fight in his entire life, and he has likely faced Admirals and other top Yonko Commanders as well. When it comes to powers, Charlotte Katakuri has a special Paramecia type of Devil Fruit called the Mochi Mochi no Mi, which allows him to create, and control Mochi.
His entire body has also been turned into Mochi, which is what makes it differently from rest of the Paramecia type of Devil Fruits, and similar to a Logia. What’s more, Katakuri also has trained his Observation Haki to a level where he can actually see into the future, predict attacks and see the outcome of various situations. But, that’s not all. Recently, when fighting Luffy, Katakuri was able to utilize a power that was neither Mochi, nor Haki. Even Luffy was confused by seeing this.
I don’t know what sort of power it was, but it looks like Katakuri has access to a power that hasn’t been properly Introduced in the manga. With this power, he can take the abilities of his Devil Fruit awakening to a whole new level, but creating stuff without any direct physical contact. Doflamingo was not able to do this. He was able to turn his immediate surroundings into strings but with contact.
Katakuri’s awakening looks to give him an extra edge. Even Luffy notes that this technique isn’t just Mochi. It is something much more complicated, and we’ll only get an answer once we see some other abilities of Katakuri. For now, it seems like Luffy vs Katakuri will be on hold, because Luffy ran from him and is at Nuts island right now. He needs right about 10 minutes to regain his Haki and unless that happens, we won’t be getting our Luffy vs Katakuri fight.
