In the last preview of Dragon Ball Super next episode 121, we saw some of the most exciting fights in the tournament. The only fight that have been confirmed is Goku and Vegeta fights Jiren and Frieza fights with Dyspo. Gohan might fight Toppo alone or maybe a tag-team with android 17. Android 17 however is nowhere to be found on the preview. There is small chance that he may be eliminated but who knows.
Gohan is a strong fighter as we all know it but Toppo isnt a weak fighter, he is quite strong compared to Gohan and he might give Gohan a hard time. Ultimate Gohan versus Toppo is going to be a memorable fight and we hope to see that in next episode.
As we all know, Gohan is not the old badass Gohan in Dragon Ball Z, he may not have enough power to defeat Toppo if they were to fight. To explain this, lets take it back when the first introduction of Toppo in Dragon Ball Super. Toppo was introduced in the exhibition match where he fights Goku as a bonus match. Toppo was obviously a formidable opponent and Goku have to go even Super Saiyan Blue in order to stand up to him.
Toppo was doing decent against Super saiyan blue and Goku had the upper hand for a little bit. Toppo did seem like he was holding as well as Goku. They both power up, Goku went Super saiyan Blue Kaio Ken and Toppo power up his red aura and the Grand Priest stop the fight.
Now do you guys think that ultimate Gohan would be able to stand up to that?
When Gohan fought Goku, Goku was doing well in Super Saiyan 2 against ultimate Gohan. We all know that Gohan hasnt fought in years and Goku is just more experienced than him. Goku even took Caulifla in his base form. Anyway, Goku did eventually turn into super saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken and Gohan obviously no match for him. The creator might be just trying to make Gohan a little better by forcing Goku to go kaio ken to defeat him when Goku really can defeat Gohan easily in Super Saiyan Blue. Regardless of that, Ultimate Gohan does seem like he is right under Super Saiyan Blue in Power.
On the other hand, Toppo can handle super saiyan blue Goku. He even fought vegeta super saiyan blue and he was doing just fine. You might say that Im underestimating Gohan Power but I just think that you are just simply underestimating Toppo power. Toppo is quite strong to be honest and I dont think Gohan will be the one to win in a 1 v 1 with toppo unless an occurrence pops up that gives Gohan extra power he needs.
However, I dont dismiss the idea of Gohan suddenly getting a power up because he have been doing that since Dragon Ball Z. Gohan if he is pushed too far, he always breaks his limits and ends up demolishing his opponent. It happens with raditz, second form Frieza when he was only 8 years old and destroy cell. There have been no one pushes Gohan ultimate form into a corner where he got angry enough to defeat his opponent.
This may be happening in the fight with toppo. Gohan may pushed into a corner and in the brink of defeat he remembers his life on earth, Videl, his daughter, Pan, his friends and knowing that they could be erased if he were to lose. This might give him a new form or just maybe a swell burst of power that managed to take Toppo out.
Gohan did say that he intends to surpass Goku in a different way and the main theme of this tournament of power arc is breaking the limit. Almost every character have breaking their limit and achieving new form, new powers and fusions. This maybe a time for Gohan to be the one to break his limits and Toppo was the catalyst for that.
