TORIYAMA SPEAKS ABOUT SUPRISING TWIST TO BEERUS PROPHETIC DREAM

If you are not familiar with the lore surrounding Dragon Ball, then you have a ton of content to brush up on. Over the decades, Akira Toriyam has built a massive world for Goku and his gang. Dragon Ball Super added an important piece of history to the Saiyans when it introduced Beerus’ Super Saiyan God prophecy, but fans don’t know everything about the dream like they thought.

After all, Toriyama did just confirm the man in the prophecy isn’t the person fans thought he was.

Recently, Saikyo Jump was able to speak with the creator of Dragon Ball about the series, and it was there Toriyama talked about the ‘legendary Super Saiyan’ who Freeza feared. The creator revealed the man was the same one as the Super Saiyan God who appeared to Beerus in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

“In a certain sense, they are the same person. That is to say, very long ago, before Planet Vegeta was the Saiyans’ planet, there was a man named Yamoshi who had a righteous heart despite being a Saiyan,” Toriyama said. The creator said Yamoshi went on to be the first person to go Super Saiyan and that his spirit carried on to find someone worthy of being a Super Saiyan God.

“This was only the beginning of his legend. Afterwards, Yamoshi’s spirit wandered in continuous search of six righteous-hearted Saiyans, seeking a new savior: Super Saiyan God,” Toriyama confessed.

The artist was then asked why Beerus was pushed to search for a Super Saiyan God of his own. It was then Toriyama revealed that “Beerus probably picked up on information about Yamoshi’s spirit in his prophetic dream.”

While Goku did wind up becoming a fighter capable of going Super Saiyan God, Beerus was not spurred forward because of the hero. It was Yamoshi’s latent spirit that trigged Beerus’ interest, and Goku became the legendary Saiyan’s successor by conquering the godly transformation with some help from his friends.

Did you think Beerus really dreamt of Goku? Or did Beerus dreamt of another pure hearted saiyan?
