Hey everyone! Today, I want to talk about One Piece Chapter 891. Before I begin, I want to let you all know that this post contains major spoilers from the chapter. The chapter is out already, and if you haven’t read it yet, I suggest that you do so. If you haven’t read the chapter, then please continue at your own risk. With that out of the way, let’s begin.
One Piece resume after a two week break, and chapter 891 amazed fans. This week, we finally got a glimpse at Katakuri’s battle against Monkey D. Luffy. It has been a while since we last saw them fight. In chapter 889, we saw Luffy going back into the Mirror World. In this chapter, the finally resumed their fight. Monkey D. Luffy abandoned his fight for a while in order to regain Haki.
As you all know, Gear 4th has a time limit. Once Luffy is out of Haki, he cannot maintain this form anymore, and that’s why he needs to take cover for about 10 minutes. Once his Haki returns, you would expect him to ho back into Gear 4th, and try to overpower Katakuri. But surprisingly, that’s not what he’s done. Instead, he is trying to beat Katakuri at his own game.
What Luffy is trying to do is to see future just like Katakuri himself. Katakuri has developed this technique after years of practice. Surprisingly, in One Piece chapter 891, Luffy actually did it. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think he would be able to pull it off. Monkey D. Luffy can now see into the future. But there is a catch, and something I’m sure not many noticed.
Luffy cannot actually look into the future consistently. Katakuri himself mentioned that he is doing it inconsistently. When they fought, Luffy saw the same future that Katakuri saw, and he was able to match his Power Mochi wth Elephant Gun. But, Luffy wasn’t able to foresee the incoming kick that Katakuri delivered. This means that he cannot see the future like Katakuri, and also that the during for which he can see the future is lesser than Katakuri.

We know that Katakuri can see a future of about 5-6 seconds, or maybe a little more. In Luffy’s case, it is probably going to be 2-3 seconds, and there’s no guarantee that he will be able to see it in the first place. I like this a lot, because I don’t want Luffy to grow suddenly. Future sight is a huge power up. I think it is something that Luffy should learn, and then slowly develop in a fight. By Wano, he should be able to see slightly into the future on a regular basis, but right now, he can’t do much. What do you think about his Observation Haki?
